Rivulets (us) _ 20h30

Rivulets is the project of the U.S. minimalist singer-songwriter Nathan Amundson who started performing and recording in 1999, and currently resides in Chicago. With releases out on several labels, including Acuarela, BlueSanct, Silber, and Chair Kickers' Union (Low veteran Alan Sparhawk's label), Rivulets has a rare claim to a devoted fan base, built on frighteningly moving, yet genuinely powerful performances and stripped-down cult classic EP's and LP's. Residing in a spectral musical space somewhere between the hazy grace of Low, the heartrending honesty of Will Oldham and the songcraft of Nick Drake, Rivulets offers, with his spectral acoustic strumming, grainy falsetto and sparse arrangements, a shining gem of introspective modern ethereal folk. Close examination will be rewarded handsomely.

"Amundson's songs may occasionally make Nick Drake sound full o' beans, but their forlorn, otherworldly beauty is seldom less captivating." - Mojo, UK
"Most often, the music suggests the isolation and odd beauty found at the center of an iced-over lake in the middle of winter." - All Music Guide

Library Tapes (se) _ 21h30

Library Tapes (a.k.a. David Wenngren, Sweden, also member of Le Lendemain and Murralin Lane) is the master of pure, minimalist piano based beauty. Having started from a completely stripped down approach, the Library Tapes sound has evolved to include sparingly used but perfectly balanced strings, field recordings and found sound, and is quite simply stunning. Library Tapes music sits somewhere between classical, ambient and experimental, but is always beautiful, subtle and affecting. Wenngren's projects has also included collaborations with lumières such as Peter Broderick, Sylvain Chauveau, Colleen, Erik Skodvin and Danny Norbury (definitely a dream team!). No doubt that this guy will do an unprecedented use of the great grand piano of the Cellule 133A!

"This is the fullest, most finished-sounding Library Tapes project since it was an official duo (with Per Jardsell), and may suit listeners who need more than a few endlessly revolving piano notes better than recent offerings. For fans of Max Richter, Tim Hecker, and Eluvium, A Summer Beneath the Tress is a can't-miss album." Rated 7,6 - PITCHFORK
"There's a drifting, cinematic quality that goes beyond the parameters of modern classical, crossing over into more ambient terrain. Wonderful compositions throughout, all meticulously performed and produced, leaving you with an album that established Library Tapes fans will adore, and newcomers can get well and truly hooked on. Excellent.” - BOOMKAT
